E.Comp. Philip Bevan joins Battle of Britain Memorial Service at St. David’s Church, Neath

On Sunday, September 10th, 2023, E.Comp. Philip Bevan, Assistant to the Provincial Grand Principals and representing the R.W. Provincial Grand Master and M.E. Grand Superintendent in and over the Province of South Wales, participated in a poignant Battle of Britain Memorial Church Service held at St. Davids Church in Neath.

E.Comp. Philip expressed his deep honour and delight to be present on such a significant occasion. He was joined by the Mayor of Neath Port Talbot, Cllr Chris Williams, and Mayoress Ms. Debbie Rees, as they gathered to pay their respects at the Gnoll Park Memorial Gates.

The date, September 15th, holds historical significance, being officially designated as Battle of Britain Day. It commemorates the remarkable day in 1940 when RAF Fighter Command achieved a decisive victory over the German Luftwaffe, a turning point in World War II. The solemn event at St. Davids Church and the homage paid at the Gnoll Park Memorial Gates served as a touching tribute to the bravery and sacrifice of those who fought valiantly during the Battle of Britain, ensuring that their memory lives on in the hearts of the community.
