E.Comp Julian Rees – ProvGSN
E.Comp. Julian Rees was initiated into Freemasonry in January 1991. He became Master of Glantawe Lodge No. 5378 in 1996 and again in 2008, and went on to be a founding member of the Internet Lodge No. 9659. Since November 2006, he has served as Secretary of Lord Swansea Lodge, where he was installed as Worshipful Master in December 2020.
His Chapter work includes serving as Zerubbabel of Glantawe Chapter in 2009 and founding Scribe E of Lord Swansea Chapter in 2010, where he currently continues to serve. He was also a founding member of Welsh Installed Masters Lodge No. 9857 in 2010, becoming its Worshipful Master in 2014, and a founding member of West Wales Installed Principals Chapter in 2024. He currently serves as Secretary of Lord Swansea Lodge, Welsh Installed Masters Lodge, and Lodge of Benevolence, and has been appointed Provincial Scribe Nehemiah for 2025–2026.
At Provincial and Grand Lodge level, he was Provincial Junior Grand Warden (2020–2021) and was appointed PAGDC in Grand Lodge in 2022.
Outside Freemasonry, Julian runs a computer consultancy specialising in Oracle databases and related software. A former BBC Radio Two presenter, he now lives in Mumbles. He is a keen motorcyclist, riding a Triumph Bonneville after an accident on a Ducati, and describes himself as blissfully divorced – enjoying the freedom of leaving the toilet seat up, being in charge of the remote control, and driving as fast as he likes.
