E.Comp. Eifion. W Wynne – Provincial Grand Scribe E.

E. Comp. Eifion was born on 14″ April, 1952 in the Rhondda (where his father was originally from but moved to Swansea at the age of two and has lived in Swansea ever since.

Educated at Dynevor Grammar School, Swansea, he went on to gain his Teachers’ Certificate in 1973 and remained in the teaching profession until his retirement in 2018 as Headteacher of Oystermouth Primary School, Mumbles, a position he held for 24 years. He gained his B.Ed. (Hons.) in 1980.

In his first year of teaching he became involved with Swansea MENCAP as a volunteer for 2 evenings a week as well as running a club for children with special needs on Saturday afternoons in addition to running Play schemes during the Summer Holidays, thus affording much-needed respite for parents. He is currently Chairman of Swansea MENCAP and still volunteers at their Headquarters at Friendship House. He was previously also National Chairman of Gateway, the Leisure arm of MENCAP.

He joined Freemasonry in 2009 as a member of Penllergaer Lodge No. 5567 becoming WM in 2015 and Secretary in 2017. He was exalted into Penllergaer Chapter in February, 2011 becoming First Principal in 2018 and is currently Scribe E.

He is also a member of Lord Swansea Lodge and Chapter as well as Hendre Lodge.

He started volunteering in the Provincial Office in Newport Road soon after retirement and continued doing so, except for a brief period during ‘Lockdown’, in the Office when it was based in both Cardiff and Swansea and now at the new Office in Bridgend.

He was appointed Provincial Assistant Grand Scribe Ezra in 2022 and was promoted to Provincial Grand Scribe Ezra in January 2025. He was appointed to Supreme Grand Chapter with the Rank of PGStB on 1st May 2025.

He has one son, Daniel, who works in the DVLA and one grandson, Casey, the ‘apple of his eye’ whom he tries to spend as much time as possible with.

In his spare time, he is interested in calligraphy, literally ‘beautiful writing’ from the Greek.
