Supporting the RMBI 2021 Festival
A quiz night was held on Monday 27th February, 2017, at the Rose Indienne Restaurant, St Helens Road, Swansea, inviting Swansea Lodges (and non Masons) to attend and show the support that Swansea Lodges continue to provide towards the 2021 Festival. The event was organised by W.Bro. Philip Osborne and the quizmaster on the night, at great expense (not really), was the Deputy Provincial Grand Master, V.W.Bro. Roy Woodward.
The attendance mix on the evening was very pleasing with Masons, wife’s, partners and even non Masons participating. A large number of the Swansea Lodges supported the event and it was also pleasing to have a team entered from the Colonnade Club. They together with a number of younger Masons (and two new initiates), made the evening acceptable to all and enabled Freemasonry to be shown in its true light.
The evening proved to be a great success. The ambience and excellent food provided by the Rose Indienne added to the evening with close on to a hundred people in attendance. The eventual result of the quiz was a close run thing with Ionic Lodge finishing 3rd, deprived by half a point of second place by the Indefatigable Lodge. However the overall winners and Supreme Champions of Swansea were the Corinthian Lodge, led by their inspirational Captain, W.Bro. ‘Chalkie’ White.
As a result of the generosity of all who attended an excellent total of £1000.00 was collected on the night via various means. This sum will now be presented to the Treasurer of the 2021 Festival, WBro. Jeff Coles, who will be delighted with the donation. More importantly he will give full credit to the Swansea Lodges who supported the event.
A very big thank you to each and every one who attended. Well done to you all, thank you for your generosity, an excellent effort and an event that I would think we could repeat next year.
