St Gwynno Lodge honours W.Bro. Ivor’s 50-year masonic journey

At the 26th March meeting of St Gwynno Lodge, No.8599, Pontyclun, it was an occasion like no other, mainly because it was a total surprise for the recipient. W.Bro. Ivor Teideman’s Masonic journey began on the 22nd of March 1974 when he was Initiated in Norman Arches Lodge No.7761, in the Province of Buckinghamshire.

After serving many years in various offices W.Bro. Ivor attained the Chair of King Solomon on the 19th of September 1984. W.Bro. Ivor became the Lodge organist in 1998 an office he held for an impressive 13 years. On the 3rd of December 1998, W.Bro. Ivor became a founder member of Entente Cordiale Lodge No. 9490, becoming its Primus organist. In Provincial Grand Lodge W.Bro. Ivor was Appointed PPrSGD in 1995 and Promoted to PPrGSwdB in 2001.

W.Bro Ivor studied music at the Cardiff College of Music and Drama in 1963 where he met Cheryl who in 1967 became his wife. On  gaining his PGCE at the Trent Park College Middlesex, he taught in a number of schools in Buckinghamshire before being appointed headteacher of a large Junior school in the  London Borough of Hillingdon. After W.Bro. Ivor’s retirement from the headship he carried out educational consultancy for Hillingdon.

Ivor and Cheryl’s daughter came to Cardiff to study at the University, which in time resulted in her settling down, getting married and having a child. Around 20 years ago she encouraged her parents to move to Miskin to be on hand with the “baby sitting duties”. for Ivor’s wife it was moving back to her home environs.

Sadly because of this move Ivor was unable to attend Buckinghamshire meetings on a regular basis but was delighted to have been made welcome in the South Wales Lodges. On the 28th March, 2023, W.Bro. Ivor became a joining member of St Gwynno Lodge, No. 8599 in Pontyclun, quickly becoming the Lodge organist, as the saying goes “A Lodge with no music is like a bar with no beer” the members of St Gwynno certainly hold W.Bro. Ivor in the highest regard and esteem.

It was an honour and a privilege for the PDepProvGM, V.WBro. William. E Jenkins, accompanied by APGP, E.Comp Philip Bevan (both members of St Gwynno) to be able to present W.Bro. Ivor with his momentous 50 year certificate and prestigious lapel pin, to mark his wonderful achievement.
