On Saturday, 22nd August, the Provincial Membership Team met at Bridgend Masonic Hall to discuss the Province’s Membership Strategy and preparations for the next phase of UGLE’s National Digital Media Campaign.
The meeting was opened by W. Bro. Neil M. Evans, APGM, who was delighted to welcome Liaison Officers from Masonic Centres across the Province. Also in attendance was the newly appointed Provincial Grand Membership Officer, W. Bro. Stuart Ackery, supported by W. Bro. Amir Baig and W. Bro. James Bunyan, representing the Provincial Mentoring Team.
The APGM then handed the meeting over to W. Bro. Ryan C. Davies, who provided an in-depth briefing on the new structure established to manage membership enquiries across the Province. This included an overview of the work of the Membership Referral Team and the newly appointed Engagement Officers: W. Bro. Sean C. Rees, W. Bro. Jonathan Jones, Bro. James R. Anstee and Bro. Lewys Smith.
Between September and December, the National Digital Media Campaign is expected to generate increased interest from prospective candidates across South Wales. The Province now has the mechanisms and processes in place to ensure enquiries are handled promptly, suitable candidates are identified and, importantly, individuals are introduced to Lodges that are the right fit for them.
Discussion also focused on the important role that Lodges and Masonic Centres can play in supporting membership growth. Lodges were encouraged to consider holding White Table events, providing an opportunity for prospective members, family and friends to learn more about Freemasonry in an informal setting. Masonic Centres were also encouraged to explore Open Days and similar initiatives as effective ways of introducing Freemasonry to the wider community.
The meeting provided an excellent opportunity to bring together those involved in membership across the Province, ensuring that everyone is prepared and ready to make the most of the opportunities presented by the forthcoming national campaign.
With a clear structure now in place and everyone working together, the Province of South Wales is well positioned to welcome and engage with the increased interest expected over the coming months.
