VW Bro William Emrys Jenkins, PGSwdB, Deputy Provincial Grand Master in Charge, along with Officers of the Provincial Grand Lodge entered in procession and opened Provincial Grand Lodge at 11:30 am.

The Dispensation was read out by the Provincial Grand Secretary

The Deputy Provincial Grand Master in Charge was saluted according to antient form.

The MW Pro Grand Master, Peter Geoffrey Lowndes, and the visiting Officers of Grand Lodge, Present and Past, were received The MW Pro Grand Master, having taken his seat on the Throne, appointed his Wardens and Chaplain and was saluted.

The MW Pro Grand Master addressed the Brethren and stated the object of the Meeting.

The MW Pro Grand Master inspected the Provincial Grand Master designate’s Patent of Appointment, then the Grand Director of Ceremonies formed a Deputation to introduce the Provincial Grand Master designate.

The Deputy Grand Secretary read the Patent of appointment. The MW Pro Grand Master addressed the Provincial Grand Master designate who then confirmed he would undertake he duties as mandated.

The Provincial Grand Master designate knelt for prayer by the acting Grand Chaplain.

The Provincial Grand Master designate recited his Obligation, after which he was Invested and placed in the Chair.

The MW Pro Grand Master was conducted to a Chair on the right of the RW Provincial Grand Master, and the acting Wardens and Chaplain were replaced, by the GDC.

The Grand Director of Ceremonies proclaimed the RW Provincial Grand Master and Brethren were called upon to salute him.

The RW Provincial Grand Master announced he wished to appoint W Bro Peter Jones, PJGD as his Deputy.

The Deputy Provincial Grand Master designate was conducted between two Provincial Grand Deacons and was addressed by the RW Provincial Grand Master on the duties of his Office.

The RW Provincial Grand Master Obligated and Invested the Deputy Provincial Grand Master and was conducted to his Chair.

A Deputy Grand Director of Ceremonies proclaimed the Deputy Provincial Grand Master and the Brethren of the Province were called upon to salute him.

The RW Provincial Grand Master announced that he re-appointed W Bro the Reverend Canon Denzil Huw Erasmus Mosford, PSGD and W Bro Marc Lewis PGSD as Assistants.

The Assistant Provincial Grand Master, W Bro Marc Lewis, PGSD was conducted between two Provincial Grand Deacons and addressed by the RW Provincial Grand Master and reaffirmed his Obligations and was then Invested and conducted to his Chairs.

A Deputy Grand Director of Ceremonies proclaimed the re-appointed Assistant Provincial

Grand Master and the Brethren of the Province to saluted him.

The RW Provincial Grand Master announced that appointed as Assistant Provincial Grand Masters, W Bro Christopher Michael Lee Davies, PAGDC and W Bro Robert Geoffrey Payne, PAGStB.

The Assistant Provincial Grand Masters designate were conducted between two Provincial Grand Deacons and addressed by the RW Provincial Grand Master on the duties of the Office.

The RW Provincial Grand Master Obligated and Invested the Assistant Provincial Grand

Masters and they were conducted to their Chairs.

A Deputy Grand Director of Ceremonies proclaimed the newly appointed Assistant Provincial Grand Masters and the Brethren of the Province were called upon to salute them.

The appointment of the other Provincial Grand Officers was confirmed.

The By-Laws of the Province were presented to the Provincial Grand Master.

The RW Provincial Grand Master addressed Provincial Grand Lodge:

“M.W.Bro. Pro Grand Master and Brethren,

“What a tremendous sight greets me as I look around this magnificent Grand Temple; the Home of Freemasonry. Thank you for all making that extra special effort to be here today.

“Normally, at the start of business, I would welcome our visitors and guests and so I take that opportunity to do so now and reiterate my profound gratitude to all present, here today.

“It seems amiss that our three Past Provincial Grand Masters are not here today, and I so well remember the emotion of Lord Swansea’s final Provincial Grand Lodge in June 1999. RW Bro Hywel is being well looked after at the Home in Porthcawl and the Executive dined out RW Bro Gareth at his Club, last Friday, where both he and Sir Norman were on top form and both asked to be remembered to you all and particularly, you Sir.

“Of course, RW Bro Gareth officially retired on the evening of the 2021 Festival Gala Finale, where you, my Brethren, raised the truly amazing total of over £5.6million – £1,035 per capita. Truly outstanding!

“Brethren, we have important work ahead of us, the further development of the Members Pathway, and the rollout of Hermes to name but a few. I would also ask that those Companions amongst you complete the forthcoming Exaltees survey promptly when you receive such in your inbox.

“The new Joint Executive will convene next week, where all portfolios and areas of operational management will be allocated and signed off. One area in particular will be a much-enhanced relationship with our Masonic Halls and meeting venues across the Province.

“We shall soon have a new Lodge join our number and it is our duty to make the experience of every Brother in our 161 Lodges and indeed 69 Royal Arch Chapters, both worthwhile and enjoyable.

“I truly thank everyone who has made today possible, both here in London and back home, over Christmas, to put all this together in just four weeks and for you all to show me the support you have to have travelled here today; with different sets of rules and regulations currently in force across England and Wales.

“Please enjoy the remainder of the day in London and do have a safe journey home. Diolch yn fawr!”

Provincial Grand Lodge was closed in due form at 12.30 pm.
