Pontypridd Freemason Steps Out Again for Prostate Cymru

On Saturday 20th June, W.Bro. Charlie Oatley, Worshipful Master of Craig Yr Hesg Lodge No. 6724, together with friends and supporters, will take on the challenging “4 Windmill Walk” in aid of Prostate Cymru.

This year marks Charlie’s fourth consecutive year of fundraising for the charity, which provides vital support, awareness, and treatment services for men affected by prostate cancer across Wales. His efforts last year made a remarkable impact, raising an incredible £5,491.

The annual event attracts participants from Pontypridd and surrounding villages and towns, with some supporters travelling from further afield to take part. United by a common purpose, walkers come together to raise awareness of prostate cancer, generate much-needed funds, and enjoy a rewarding day of camaraderie and achievement.

Speaking about the event, Charlie said:
“Myself and a couple of others involved are the lucky ones. Our main motivation is that if we can influence at least one person to be diagnosed early, then our job is done.
The walk covers approximately 15 miles and takes around six hours to complete, following a route that links four local windmills and offers participants a significant but rewarding challenge.
Everyone involved wishes to highlight the importance of early diagnosis and to support the outstanding work carried out by Prostate Cymru.”

This initiative reflects how Freemasons can make a real difference within the community, promoting wellbeing, and helping those in need remain at the heart of what we do. Through events such as the 4 Windmill Walk, Freemasons continue to make a positive difference while raising awareness of causes that affect so many families across Wales.

Everyone at Craig Yr Hesg Lodge, and throughout the Province wishes Charlie and all participants every success with this year’s walk and thanks them for their dedication to this important cause.
