Membership Update – March 2024

I hope that you are enjoying your Masonic year so far. Time is flying by. I would like to update you on membership issues within our Province. Remember, if your Lodge needs some support with Candidates from the Provincial Membership Team, please send us an email so we can update our List. Even if you have previously informed us of your requirements.

Membership Pathway

All the fantastic resources of the Membership Pathway are available at b.ugle.org.uk/membership. This information is always being added to, so have a look as some new ideas that may help your Lodge to flourish. If your Lodge would like to host a Members Pathway Evening, please drop us a line and we will be happy to help organise an event.

Lodge Facebook Page

It has been shown repeatedly how effective these can be in recruiting all ages of members to your Lodge. They are a great way of your Lodge interacting with your local community. Contact The Provincial Communications Officer, W.Bro Karl Frowen for some advice and support – southwalescommsofficer@nullgmail.com

Membership Challenge

This continues to be a top priority from UGLE. Put simply, it is reducing resignations and increasing joiners, so that overall, our membership grows year on year. Its not all about bringing new members in. We must also remember the needs of all our existing members and those who maybe do attend as often as they did. Contact a Brother who you haven’t seen in a while. All our members are important to the Lodge. We must hold onto what we have, as well as , looking for new.

Multiple Ceremonies

Some Lodges are very lucky and have several candidates waiting to be initiated. However, candidates won’t wait for ever. Consider holding extra meetings to get candidates in quickly or hold double or triple ceremonies. UGLE have just issued helpful advice and guidelines to assist Lodges. Don’t think of dragging out candidates so that you have ceremonies for future years. You may well end up losing them! New members may well have friends who they can bring in.

Remember Brethren, every Lodge must have a simple Membership Plan as to what they are doing to help themselves succeed. If you require any help or guidance with any aspects of your member, please drop me a line.

Good luck.
