Membership is the focus at Merthyr Tydfil Masonic Hall

On Thursday 7th May, Loyal Cambrian Lodge No. 110 held an extremely successful White Table Evening, with more than 70 brethren in attendance, including a good number of non-Freemasons.

The evening commenced with a fascinating historical talk on the history of Loyal Cambrian Lodge and its forefathers, expertly delivered by the Lodge Secretary, W.Bro. Robert Rees. His presentation highlighted the proud traditions and rich heritage of the lodge and its deep-rooted connection to the history of Merthyr Tydfil.

During the Festive Board, the brethren and guests welcomed guest speaker W.Bro. Keith Shankland, a Nottinghamshire Freemason who is born and bred in the Merthyr borough. W.Bro. Keith gave an inspiring account of how he successfully balanced work and Freemasonry throughout his career, beginning as a brickwork apprentice before progressing to key positions including Works Engineer, General Manager, Operations Director, and Consultant for Hanson PLC.

Non-Freemasons and brethren alike remained long after the close of the Festive Board, sharing local stories and discussing the proud heritage of Merthyr Tydfil, including the history of Loyal Cambrian Lodge and many of its most notable Freemasons, several of whom were significant historical figures from Merthyr’s past.

Assistant Provincial Grand Master Designate, W.Bro. Neil Martin Evans, expressed his delight at the tremendous support and enthusiasm shown by the members of Loyal Cambrian Lodge, together with all the visiting brethren, whose efforts made the evening an especially memorable occasion for all the non-Freemasons in attendance.
