Hendre Lodge No. 3250 – Installation Ceremony

On Thursday 22 October 2026, Hendre Lodge No. 3250 held its annual Installation Ceremony at Cardiff Masonic Hall, with well over 100 Brethren gathering to celebrate the installation of its new Worshipful Master, W.Bro. Michael Lewis.

The evening began with a truly impressive spectacle as the Provincial Grand Master, accompanied by his Provincial escort, entered the packed Duke of Kent Temple to the assembled Brethren.

The ceremony was conducted by the Installing Worshipful Master, W.Bro. David Hackman, in an exemplary manner, ensuring a memorable occasion for all in attendance.

W.Bro. Mike Lewis is a dedicated, highly respected and dependable Freemason whose commitment and service to the Province of South Wales are unquestionable. His knowledge, experience and continued contribution to Freemasonry have earned him the admiration of the Brethren.

A Tribute to the Worshipful Master of Hendre Lodge

In a heartfelt toast, the Provincial Grand Secretary, W.Bro. Ben Gait, paid tribute to the Worshipful Master of Hendre Lodge, recognising not only his outstanding Masonic service but also his friendship, loyalty and unwavering commitment to the Brethren of South Wales.

Having appointed him as Provincial Assistant Grand Secretary, he quickly discovered a man who was dependable, knowledgeable and always willing to go the extra mile. From resolving the complications of COVID-19 cancellations to rescuing a seating plan for 250 Companions at the eleventh hour, the Worshipful Master consistently demonstrated that he is a true team player who never seeks the limelight or recognition.

The toast also shared lighter memories, including a rather questionable £5 all-you-can-eat restaurant experience in London, alongside their shared passion for Formula 1, motor racing and the stories that make a friendship special.

There was also a deeply moving tribute to his late son, Anthony Lewis, who sadly passed away on Christmas Day 2022, aged just 47. The Provincial Grand Secretary spoke of the Worshipful Master’s strength and fortitude during the darkest of times, describing him as an example of what it means to be both a man and a Mason.

Concluding his tribute, he spoke of a dear friend who makes every team he joins better, expressing his confidence that the Worshipful Master will uphold the proud traditions of Hendre Lodge and leave it stronger for the future.

A wonderful tribute to a much-respected Brother, a loyal friend and a true gentleman.

Wishing the Worshipful Master an enjoyable and successful year in the Chair.
