Beaufort Lodge raises over £7,000 for Charity

On Friday 23rd September, the Worshipful Master of Beaufort Lodge No 3834, Swansea, W.Bro. Andrew Goodall and the The Provincial Grand Master, RWBro. D. Gerald Rowbottom, held a fund raising evening for the Charity 65 degrees North which seeks to help in the rehabilitation of wounded, injured or sick (WIS) service personnel and veterans by offering the opportunity to participate in challenging adventure. By changing the perception of physical and mental disability through the ‘Spirit of Adventure’ they aim to inspire and motivate others to overcome, achieve and succeed.

The evening was a huge success raising over £7,000 through an auction of rare military memorabilia ranging from fine wines and whiskeys branded with the SAS insignia, military prints of the SAS & SBS, signed football shirts, days out, rugby tickets and lots more, including a raffle.

Beaufort Lodge would like to thank everyone for their support on the evening in helping to achieve this monumental figure. A big thank you to the Masonic Benevolent Fund of South Wales for their donation of £2,000, which was presented to Mr Richard Morgan of 65 Degrees North by the Worshipful Master of Beaufort Lodge, W.Bro Andrew Goodall and The Provincial Grand Master, RWBro. D Gerald Rowbottom. A special mention to W.Bro. Jim Needs who has made an electric guitar that he has kindly donated to the 65 Degrees North Charity. It is currently in London waiting to be signed by Brian May. It will then be placed in another auction the charity are organising in London, it already has a pre auction bid of £1000 on it.
