Thursday 6th August marked a very special milestone for Baglan Lodge as brethren, together with visitors from Port Talbot and across South Wales, gathered at the Cinnamon Kitchen on Aberavon seafront for the 10th anniversary of the Baglan Lodge Charity Summer Curry Night.
What began ten years ago as a charity evening has become a much-loved fixture in the Lodge calendar, and this year’s event proved once again that good food, great company and a generous spirit can make a real difference.
The evening raised a fantastic £1,315, with the funds shared equally between the Worshipful Master’s two chosen charities for the year: St John Ambulance Wales and Ty Nant Cat Sanctuary, with each charity receiving £657.50.
Baglan Lodge would like to extend its sincere thanks to everyone who attended, donated and supported the event. Special thanks go to Raam and his team at the Cinnamon Kitchen, whose wonderful hospitality was matched by their generosity, with a further £100 donation towards the evening’s fundraising total.
The Lodge also extends its thanks to the Port Talbot Masonic Hall Entertainment Committee, who generously contributed an additional £100, helping the evening reach such an impressive total.
A special mention must also go to W. Bro. Richard Evans, the organiser of the Charity Summer Curry Night. His hard work, commitment and dedication over the years have helped establish this event as one of the highlights of the Baglan Lodge calendar, raising substantial sums for many worthy causes.
Following the event, the Worshipful Master of Baglan Lodge, W. Bro. Tristan Evans, was delighted to make the two charity presentations.
The first cheque, for £657.50, was presented to W. Bro. John Bamsey, Chair of Fundraising for the Council of St John Ambulance Cardiff & Vale of Glamorgan. The donation will help provide essential uniforms and equipment for the organisation’s dedicated volunteers, who work tirelessly to support communities and help keep the public safe at events across Wales.
A second cheque for £657.50 was presented to Marianne of Ty Nant Cat Sanctuary. The sanctuary’s dedicated volunteers provide invaluable care to cats and kittens in need, and the donation will help towards food, bedding and essential vaccinations, ensuring rescued animals receive the care they need while they await their forever homes.
Reaching the ten-year milestone is a tremendous achievement for Baglan Lodge’s Charity Summer Curry Night. Over the past decade, the event has raised an impressive £8,397 for a wide range of charitable causes, making a meaningful difference to organisations, communities and individuals both locally and across Wales.
Baglan Lodge can be rightly proud of this remarkable achievement. The continued success of the Charity Summer Curry Night is a testament to the generosity of everyone who has supported it over the past ten years.
