On Saturday, August 3rd, 2024, the inaugural Tercentenary event for Area 7 was held at the West End Bowls Club in Merthyr Tydfil. The event signified the importance of community spirit and togetherness as outlined by the Tercentenary Chair AProvGM, W.Bro. Dr. Akram Baig, who was delighted to attend and show his support.
The event was meticulously coordinated by W.Bro. Neil Martin Evans and W.Bro. Dafydd Iles, representatives of Area 7. They selected the idyllic setting of the West End Bowls Club to offer Freemasons a strong community presence. The afternoon saw over 90 attendees who enjoyed a delicious buffet, demonstrating a real sense of community spirit.
W.Bro. Neil Martin Evans emphasised the dual importance of supporting significant events like the Tercentenary and maintaining connections with members during the hiatus of regular Masonic meetings. This is particularly crucial for new and elderly members, some of whom live alone and greatly benefit from such social gatherings and events.
The success of the event is expected to culminate in a significant contribution and marks a successful and memorable start to the Tercentenary celebrations for Area 7, with further events planned.
