A Special Installation at South Wales Provincial Grand Stewards Lodge No. 8900

W.Bro. Philip Nethercott Installed as Worshipful Master
Bridgend Masonic Hall – Saturday, 3 October 2026

South Wales Provincial Grand Stewards Lodge No. 8900 held its annual Installation meeting at Bridgend Masonic Hall on Saturday, 3 October 2026, in a memorable occasion celebrating the traditions of Freemasonry and the unique purpose of this distinguished Lodge.

It has become a much-valued tradition for the Provincial Grand Master to personally conduct the Installation ceremony, and this year was no exception, as W.Bro. Philip Nethercott was installed into the Chair of King Solomon as the Lodge’s new Worshipful Master.

W.Bro. Philip is an extremely popular and well-known Freemason throughout the Province of South Wales. His Masonic journey began in 2013 when he was initiated into Services Lodge, Barry. In 2019, he became a Founder Member of Welsh Rugby Clubs Lodge No. 9986 before joining South Wales Provincial Grand Stewards Lodge No. 8900 in 2024.

The Provincial Grand Master was accompanied by a full Provincial Escort, with the striking sea of crimson creating a spectacular sight as the Provincial party entered the Lodge room. The occasion reflected the pride, tradition and friendship that continue to make Provincial gatherings so special.

Following the Installation, the Provincial Grand Secretary, W.Bro. Ben Gait, addressed the newly installed Master, offering words of encouragement and guidance as he embarked upon his year in the Chair.

South Wales Provincial Grand Stewards Lodge No. 8900 holds a particularly important place within the Province. Established to provide an opportunity for Master Masons who have served as Provincial Grand Stewards, the Lodge enables those who, for various reasons, have not previously had the opportunity to occupy the Master’s Chair to experience the privilege and responsibility of leading a Lodge.

In doing so, the Lodge recognises not only the contribution its members have made through their service as Provincial Grand Stewards, but also the many years of dedication and commitment they have given to Freemasonry. Its annual Installation meeting is therefore a fitting recognition of those contributions, offering its members the opportunity to take their Masonic journey a step further.

The members of South Wales Provincial Grand Stewards Lodge No. 8900 extend their warmest congratulations and very best wishes to W.Bro. Philip Nethercott. May his year as Worshipful Master be successful, enjoyable and filled with lasting memories, good fellowship and many happy occasions.

Congratulations, W.Bro. Philip, and every good wish for your year in the Chair.
