The Colonnade Club returned to Mumbles this summer for the second annual Colonnade Crawl, bringing together members from across the Province for an informal social during the summer recess.
What started last year as the simple idea of bringing together some club members to enjoy some refreshments along the coast, has become an annual event in the Club calendar.
This year’s crawl welcomed members from across the Province, giving brethren who might otherwise rarely cross paths, the opportunity to meet, socialise and enjoy each other’s company away from the formality of the temple and the festive board.
Importantly, the invitation was also extended to newer Masons and Light Blues who had not yet joined the Colonnade Club, as well as brethren whose circumstances have meant they haven’t been able to attend as regularly in recent years.
It was particularly good to see some familiar faces whose company has been missed, giving them an opportunity to reconnect with friends and experience the growing social culture among younger Masons across the Province.
For those attending for the first time, it provided an opportunity to meet new brethren from across the Province and experience the other side of Freemasonry that continues long after Lodge meetings have finished.
Days like the Colonnade Crawl are ultimately about bringing people together, which the club succeeded to do yet again. No ceremony, no regalia, just a planned out route, a meeting point and an opportunity to strengthen friendships and the club bond.
With another successful Crawl completed, plans are already being discussed for next summers event.
By working within the South Wales Province, The Colonnade Club continues to connect the next generation of Freemasonry across South Wales.
