On Monday 8th June 2026, Wenallt Lodge No. 9082 met at Cardiff Masonic Hall for its Installation Meeting, a well-attended and memorable occasion for all present.
The Lodge was honoured by the presence of the Right Worshipful Provincial Grand Master, accompanied by a full Provincial delegation and several distinguished Grand Officers, underlining the significance of the evening for the Lodge and the Province.
W.Bro. Merrick Jones, JGD, AProvGM, was installed into the Chair of King Solomon for the second time by his father, W.Bro. David C. Jones, PPSGW, in a ceremony delivered with dignity, confidence and traditional style. The occasion was particularly notable, both for the evident pride of father and son and as a rare instance of a serving Assistant Provincial Grand Master taking the Chair of his mother Lodge.
The ceremony was conducted to a high standard throughout. The Address to the Worshipful Master was delivered by the Right Worshipful Provincial Grand Master, with the Addresses to the Wardens and Brethren also delivered in fine style, contributing to a fitting and memorable Installation.
In his response to the toast to his health, the newly installed Master reflected on Wenallt Lodge’s strong heritage as a Lodge founded on friendship and continuity, and reaffirmed the importance of fellowship, mutual support and high standards. He also set out a clear commitment to the Lodge’s future, including a focus on attracting new members and supporting growth in line with UGLE’s Building Together strategy.
A total of 55 Brethren attended in the Temple, demonstrating strong support for the Lodge and its new Master, with further fellowship and song enjoyed at the Festive Board. The evening continued in excellent spirit, marked by good company and a thoroughly enjoyable dining experience.
