On Tuesday, 27th May 2025, Lodge of Concord No. 8418 held its annual Installation meeting at Cardiff Masonic Hall. The event was attended by Assistant Provincial Grand Master, W.Bro. Christopher M. L. Davies, accompanied by his Provincial escort, who were in attendance to oversee the ceremony.
An excellent evening of ritual unfolded, led with great dignity and precision by the Installing Master, W.Bro. Phillip Thomas, who installed his successor, W.Bro. Richard Thomas, in exemplary fashion.

The occasion was made particularly memorable by a rare and touching Masonic milestone: W.Bro. Richard Thomas’s son, Gethyn, is currently serving as Worshipful Master of North Glamorgan Lodge No. 4055, Merthyr. It is an exceptional moment for any Lodge to witness a father and son both serving as Worshipful Masters simultaneously, an occurrence that empathises the strength of family and tradition within Freemasonry.
Often referred to as the “DC’s Lodge,” Lodge of Concord comprises of members who have previously held the acting Provincial rank of AGDC or DepAGDC. The evening reflected the Lodge’s unique heritage and high standard of ceremonial excellence.
