On 9th January 2023, W.Bro. D. Gwynne Hopkins, PPrGSwdB, of Glantawe Lodge No. 5378, celebrated the 60th anniversary of his initiation into Freemasonry.
As W.Bro. Gwynne is currently not able to be attend Lodge meetings, the Provincial Grand Master, R.W. Bro. D. Gerald Rowbottom, visited W.Bro. Gwynne at his home to present his 60th Year Certificate in person.
To mark this very special occasion, a number of Glantawe Lodge’s senior members were in attendance, including W.Bro. Gwynne’s son-in-law, W.Bro. Philip Jones, and his grandson, W.Bro. Dafydd Hopcyn-Kitchener, both of whom were proposed into Freemasonry by W.Bro. Gwynne. The Provincial Grand Master said some very kind words about W.Bro. Gwynne, who was both surprised but very delighted to have the PGM visit him in person.
W.Bro Gwynne Hopkins was Initiated on the 9th of January 1963, and was Installed as Worshipful Master of Glantawe Lodge in 1974 and again for the second time, 38 years later in 2012. He was first appointed to PPrAGDC in 1980, then promoted to PPrGSwdB in 2016.
