On Thursday 5th March 2026, brethren assembled at Merthyr Tydfil Masonic Hall to witness a truly historic and heartfelt occasion.
Loyal Cambrian Lodge No. 110 has a rich history steeped in tradition and family bonds dating back more than 200 years. Throughout that time, countless members of the Lewis family have been initiated within the sacred walls of Merthyr Tydfil Masonic Hall. On this occasion, another memorable and rare family moment took place, this time with a special twist: a son initiating his own father.
The evening began in the usual manner, with the Worshipful Master, W.Bro. Gareth Crowther, opening the Lodge and conducting the regular business of the meeting. He then invited W.Bro. Matthew McCarthy to take the Chair of King Solomon in order to initiate his father, a rare and deeply meaningful moment in Freemasonry.
Bro. Stuart McCarthy was initiated in a superb manner by the Worshipful Master and his highly skilled officers, each playing their part in a ceremony that undoubtedly left a lasting impression on all those present. It was a ceremony filled with honour, pride, love, and, of course, great warmth.
With over 60 Brethren in attendance, the atmosphere throughout the evening was electric. The festive board that followed was filled with laughter, camaraderie, and celebration as Loyal Cambrian Lodge warmly welcomed Bro. Stuart McCarthy into its ranks.
Another proud chapter was written in the long and distinguished history of Loyal Cambrian Lodge, a true example of Freemasonry passing from generation to generation.
