A message from W Bro. Robert G. Payne
Provincial Grand Master Designate
It is both a privilege and a pleasure to formally announce the launch of the South Wales 2032 Festival in support of the Masonic Charitable Foundation (MCF, the Freemasons’ charity).
Many of you will be familiar with the MCF, which is funded entirely by Freemasons through contributions made collectively by Lodges and Provinces, as well as by individual members.
Festival fundraising traditionally spans a period of five to six years. Across England and Wales, 44 Provinces participate in the Festival system, with four Provinces completing a Festival Appeal each year. This creates a continuous cycle of Festivals that repeats every 11 years. Our Festival commences now and will culminate in 2032 with a Festival celebration, at which the total amount raised will be revealed.
Our most recent Festival, which ended in 2021, raised £5,664,893 for the RMBI. Since that time, the MCF has provided vital support to brethren and their families within our Province, in addition to awarding significant grants to deserving causes across South Wales. This support currently averages more than £600,000 per year.
Simple arithmetic demonstrates that our Province receives more in charitable support from the MCF than it contributes over the 11 year Festival cycle.
Over the next six years, we have the opportunity to demonstrate our commitment to the charity and to show that we care deeply about its future.
Our target is to raise £4 million by 2032. The most effective way to achieve this, as individuals, is through regular giving. If each of our 4,400 members were to donate £10 per month, the equivalent of the price of two pints of beer, the total donated over a six-year period would be £3.168 million, with the potential for a further £792,000 to be added through Gift Aid.
In addition to individual donations, the Festival provides an opportunity for us to come together with ingenuity, good humour, and entrepreneurial spirit to organise events and fundraising activities at Lodge, centre, and provincial levels. Fundraising can, and should, be both enjoyable and rewarding.
Our Province has a long and proud history of supporting Masonic charities, and I am confident that, by working together, we will achieve – and potentially exceed – our target by 2032.
W Bro Simon K S Daniel
2032 Festival Chairman, South Wales Province
How exciting is it to be in at the start of something so special. Our Festival team is ready to supply you with all the information and helpful ideas to enable us all to contribute what we can to this fantastic cause. Our aim is to make giving easy, affordable and regular. That will enable us to reach our target and make a considerable difference to the lives of many Masons in South Wales. Remember we get more back into our Province than we put in. Please contact us at anytime for advice and support. Together we can make 2032 a very special year.
Diolch! Thank you!

Social and sponsored events raise vital funds for the Festival, and it is important that every member and/or Lodge considers planning and holding events throughout the Appeal. If the event is a sponsored activity, use the Freemasonry Gives fundraising platform to set up a fundraising page. All donations will go to the Festival, and you can share your fundraising page on social media and via email.
