In early October, the Worshipful Master of Friendship and Justice Lodge No. 5830 hosted a highly successful Charity Dinner, held in the presence of the Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress of Cardiff.
The Lord Mayor, Cllr. Adrian Robson, and the Lady Mayoress, Cllr. Jayne Cowan MBE, are respectively the son-in-law and daughter of our late Brother Bobby Cowan. It was therefore particularly fitting that the Lodge was able to honour this cherished family connection by supporting the Lord Mayor’s Charity during their year of office.
The Lord Mayor has nominated two worthy causes to benefit from his fundraising efforts: The Forget-Me-Not Chorus, which works closely with the Alzheimer’s Society to support those living with dementia, and The Rescue Hotel, which provides rehoming and caring support to the Cardiff Dogs Home.
The evening featured a raffle and, of course, an entertaining auction conducted by W. Bro. Gerry Tudor. Thanks to the generosity of all present, the event raised an impressive £1,500, which has now been donated to the Lord Mayor’s Charity Fund.
Sincere thanks go to Bro. Jeremy Richards for coordinating the event, supported by W. Bro. Gerry Tudor, the Worshipful Master W. Bro. Jason Smith, W. Bro. Graham McAuley, and the many other Brethren who contributed to making the evening such a resounding success.
