Building Together – Shape – Creating a Lodge / Chapter Plan

It is the Provincial Grand Master’s wish that all lodges & chapters put in place a Lodge / Chapter Plan by end of February, in line with UGLE Building Together Strategy which is freely available on the internet, then begin the process of implementing that Plan.

To assist, the Provincial Shape Team have created a series of Artificial Intelligence (Ai) prompts as discussed at the recent Membership Meeting in Bridgend. Follow these steps to assist in creating a first draft:

Step 1: Find Co-pilot, Gemini, ChatGPT by an internet search – which are all Ai tools and cut and paste the following prompt into it:

“Act as a specialist Masonic Consultant. Research [Insert Lodge Name & Number] and its Province using available public data (website, social media, Provincial news). Apply the UGLE ‘Building Together’ SHAPE framework (Shape, Attract, Continue, Engage, Respond) to create a one-page Membership Action Plan for 2026–2031.The plan must include: SHAPE Review: A concise Lodge profile identifying our target audience (e.g., age, professional background). Strategic Goals: 1% annual growth by Year 3 and 2% by Year 7. Attract & Continue: Specific community engagement and Royal Arch integration ideas. Engage & Respond: Tactics for high-quality rituals and re-engaging inactive members. Success Metrics: Clear KPIs for membership retention and candidate inquiries.”

Step 2: Once it does this, then give it a lodge name and number and press enter

Step 3: Use this as a first draft. Refine it, give it more information about your lodge.

Step 4: Discuss within the lodge – circulate by email, discuss on a Zoom, Google Meet or MS Teams, in keeping with building digital expertise. Or have some time before, during, or after your lodge meeting or Lodge of Instruction.

Step 5: Put the draft it back into the Ai tool, with any enhancements the lodge has agreed.

Step 6: Ask it to incorporate the amendments into your Membership Action Plan.

Step 7: Once happy, ask it to:

produce the Plan as an A4 word document of 1 or 2 pages”

Step 8: Ask it to:

“produce an infographic that will aide members to know what the Plan is”

Step 9: Ask it to:

“produce an infographic for an individual member to set out their role in helping to deliver the Membership Plan.”

You may find that some AI tools are better than others at graphics, so be prepared to use other ones by downloading the results then feeding to another Ai tool.

The Ai might even make really great suggestions, so explore these too.

Step 10: Ensure all members receive a copy and a briefing on Plan, their role in making it happen, and please ensure your Mandated Officer is included.

Note to Members: UGLE Building Together is freely available on the internet. Your lodge information is within the South Wales Freemason website and on social media. The Ai will find this and use this information as it is freely published information. You must NOT put details of members and any personal information.

Here’s some examples of what was created in 20 minutes using & building on these prompts.
