Despite forecasts predicting rain and wind, Mother Nature showed us great kindness on Saturday as Albert Edward Prince of Wales Court hosted its much loved annual Strawberry Tea under calm and pleasant skies.
This year’s event was marked by a particularly special moment. Traditionally, the honour of opening the Strawberry Tea is reserved for one of our three Provincial Grand Masters, South Wales, West Wales, or Monmouthshire. However, this year, it was unanimously agreed that the occasion called for a meaningful departure from tradition.
With great pride and admiration, Mrs Alison Aberdeen, our esteemed Care Home Manager, was invited to officially open the event. As many know, Alison will be stepping down at the end of June after eight remarkable years of dedicated service. Her contribution to the home and its community made her the perfect choice to lead the day’s celebrations, and it was a moment filled with warmth and appreciation.
The day itself was a wonderful showcase of community spirit and fun. It was heartening to see so many Brethren, families, and friends come together to support this cherished event. There was truly something for everyone to enjoy, with a delightful array of stalls and entertainment on offer, including:
- Freshly made pies and pasties
- Homemade cakes
- Lucky dips
- Knitted items
- Handcrafted bags and necklaces
- Fresh flowers
- Tombolas
- Wax melts and scented gifts
- Costume jewellery
- Masonic regalia
- Live entertainment
- And so much more!
A very special thank you goes to Caerdydd Lodge No. 3959, home of the Widows Sons—the Province’s motorcycle Lodge—for their generous donation of £750 to the Friends of Albert Edward Prince of Wales Court. Your ongoing support and generosity are truly valued.
We extend our sincere gratitude to everyone who helped make the day such a success: our amazing volunteers, talented entertainers, dedicated caterers, and enthusiastic stallholders. Most importantly, thank you to our residents, who graciously welcomed us into their home to share this special day.
