On Friday, 23rd May 2025, the Brethren of Wenvoe Lodge No. 9038, Penarth, gathered in celebration of a truly remarkable Masonic milestone, W.Bro. John Thomas Lloyd’s 50th anniversary in Craft Freemasonry.
W.Bro. John’s Masonic journey began across the Atlantic when he was initiated into St Clair Lodge No. 135, in the Province of Ontario, Canada, on 4th April 1975. His path later brought him to South Wales, where he became a founder member of Wenvoe Lodge No. 9038.
Having diligently progressed through the Lodge offices, W.Bro. John first took the Chair of King Solomon on 9th September 1983, and went on to serve as Master again in 2000, 2005, and 2011 — a clear demonstration of the trust and esteem he holds among his Brethren.
His Masonic contributions extend beyond his mother Lodge. He is a subscribing member of Hendre Lodge No. 3250, an Honorary member of Lodge of Fidelity No. 6112, and was a founder member of Lodge of Unity No. 6030 (now erased).
In Provincial Grand Lodge, his outstanding service has been recognised through a series of well-earned honours:
- Past Provincial Assistant Grand Director of Ceremonies – appointed 26th June 1989
- Past Provincial Grand Superintendent of Works – 2006
- Past Provincial Junior Grand Warden – 2015
- Past Provincial Senior Grand Warden – 2021
W.Bro. John’s commitment to the Craft remains as strong as ever. He currently serves as Secretary of Wenvoe Lodge, a position he has held for the past 10 years. He is a cornerstone of the Lodge — always available to offer guidance, wisdom, and support, especially to newer and younger Brethren. Notably, in his entire 50 years as a Freemason, W.Bro. John has never been out of office, a truly remarkable and rare achievement.
To mark this significant occasion, the Assistant Provincial Grand Master, W.Bro. Dr. Akram Baig, accompanied by his Provincial escort, W.Bro. John L. Williams, ProvAGDC, and W.Bro. Paul Everett, ProvGStwd, had the honour of presenting W.Bro. John with his 50-year certificate and lapel pin on behalf of the Right Worshipful Provincial Grand Master.
The Province warmly congratulates W.Bro. John Thomas Lloyd for his half-century of loyal service, leadership, and unwavering dedication to Freemasonry. His legacy is an inspiration to all who have had the pleasure of knowing and working alongside him.
