E. Comp Kevin Hearne – Assistant to the Provincial Grand Principals

Initiated into Beehive Lodge in 1987 I was soon on the progressive ladder taking the chair in rapid time in 1993. Eager to progress and learn I found myself guided towards Edgar Rutter Chapter where I was exalted. I am currently the Chapter DC. As a joining member of Barry Royal Arch Chapter I had the honour of being their Centenary First Principal. Advancement into Barry Mark Lodge followed and elevation into Barry RAM was not far away. I am currently polishing up my Rose Croix ritual as I tentatively and slowly move towards Most Wise Sovereign.

Over the ensuing years I have been able to progress in all the orders and been honoured to receive Provincial rank in each one. In 2017 I was awarded Grand Rank in craft masonry as PAGDC.

Born a “valley boy” and brought up in the 1970’s golden village of rugby in Bedwas, love and marriage drew me to the soft sand beaches of the Vale of Glamorgan and Barry in particular – some would call it missionary work. 35 year later and I am still here I have now been adopted by the locals as one of them.

Following 42 years as a banker I escaped on early retirement in late 2016 and now fill my time outside masonry fulfilling many and varied domestic tasks especially as a proud Grandfather to recently born twins Niamh and Noah.

A short spell as MD of Cardiff Masonic Hall has rounded my knowledge of what might be badged as “operative masonry” and the challenges that we together face in the years to come. I very much look forward to the day that the trials and tribulations of Covid abate and we can meet again in harmony and I can formerly serve our wonderful Province in my new role.
