Posted on 16th May 2012 8:41am Master Elect of Provincial Stewards Lodge
W.Bro Byron Butler reports … “At its election night tonight (15 May 2012), Provincial Stewards Lodge 8900 elected a Master for the ensuing year who will be installed in October . He is Brother Cecil “Pop” Davis .
Cecil became a mason in a London Lodge of Indian origin called Ubique in the East No. 3338 in 1975, joining Glanogwr Lodge No 8508 upon moving to Wales and then becoming a joining member of Provincial Stewards upon achieving that rank.
The evening was very interesting because Cecil delivered a lecture on his life serving Queen and Country, more particularly his service at the Tower of London.
He enlisted in the Royal Sussex Regiment in 1938 fulfilling 33 years service achieving the rank of Warrant Officer and then another 15 years as a Yeoman Warder at The Tower. To learn from someone with personal experience of living and working in such a place for so long was fascinating, and we learned of the training and experience necessary to become established on the strength there, and the historic traditions associated with a building and premises steeped in so much history.
Cecil was obviously a good learner and a loyal servant because he went on the become a Chief Yeoman Warden and made a proud sight dressed in his “working” uniform, the red being reserved for State occasions. The photo shows Brother Cecil with the Master of Stewards Lodge, W. Bro. KD Crook.
The Lodge and his many friends and Brethren wish him well when he achieves the Chair.”
