W.Bro Byron Butler writes … When Penybont 6743 was warranted and consecrated in 1948, it was envisaged that one of the then eight meeting per annum would consist of a lecture. The lodge decided recently to revert to such a schedule, and as a result, on Friday 20th April the proceedings of the lodge consisted of a lecture delivered by two well known Bridgend brethren.
W.Bro.C.Hugh Thomas and W. Bro.Philip Aubrey ( Llangeinor 4194 and Ogmore 1752 respectively) delivered a paper entitled “The Legend of Hiram Abiff” which they had prepared together as a result of their interest in masonic research. This research they have sought to further through their membership of a Holy Royal Arch Chapter meeting at Bridgend, Llangeinor Chapter 4194 which meets twice yearly and is a daylight lodge..
The address was well received by an appreciative audience, and the Master of Penybont, W. Brother Carl Davies expressed the lodge’s appreciation.
The lodge had been designated also as a ladies dining-in evening, so whilst the brethren were at lodge, our ladies were entertained by a group of young dancers who looked superb and danced divinely.
Altogether a very worthwhile evening!
