Provincial Oration Scheme

Inform – Stimulate – Retain

The oration scheme seeks to inform and thereby stimulate more interest in Masonry among both experienced and newer brethren, encouraging them to continue to enjoy and participate in their Masonic activities.

Orations are freestanding talks on a range of interesting Masonic topics and explore the deeper meaning of the ritual, its rich symbolism and procedures. They can be given when a Lodge has no ceremony to work, or in accordance with the Provincial Grand Master’s recent initiative, be delivered at a Lodge of Instruction during a regular meeting to enable brethren to learn more of the history and meaning of our ceremonies.

Orations are delivered in a vibrant and engaging way to motivate the interest and attention of brethren and are followed by an opportunity for discussion and to raise questions. They are intended to be challenging, invigorating and enjoyable and Brethren often share their own interesting experiences and knowledge. We all learn from each other.

In addition, White Table Talks can be given, which would be of interest to brethren, their ladies and non-masons alike to allay any sense of apprehension they may have about our Fraternity. These talks could even attract potential candidates or encourage lapsed members to rejoin. So the oration scheme would not only seek to address retention, but may assist in recruitment and retrieval.

A Freemason’s life is a journey of discovery about the world around him but, more importantly, about himself. Often, the journey of exploration is more valuable than the destination itself.

If you would like me to come to your Lodge to present an Oration and lead the subsequent discussion, please contact me:
